The Graduating Class of 2008
Graduate Speech Excerpts

Breanne A .

A letter to my teachers:

You knew what I was truly capable of and when I faltered you were there. You watched as I grew and changed. Always there to spend some extra time making sure I understood. You were not a teacher of words but of life. You never treated me like a teenager, but a young adult. Like a person who would soon lead the world you live in. But most of all you cared.

Laurel H.

AMES has taught me who I am. AMES has taught me to be an individual. Look at us; each of us is different. AMES has taught all of us that being an individual is important. We each came to AMES because we wanted something different. Every teacher has taught me to appreciate who I am and to strive to develop what I want.

Jonathan P.

As a child growing up I never thought I would see the day when I stop being a child to become a man. Growing up in a small town in Mississippi I would have never have had such great opportunities in high school such as the ones I have here at A.M.E.S. Here at A.M.E.S we, as students, have the opportunity to become whatever it is we want to become in the future.

Maria S.

When we came to AMES we took the chance to come here and leave our comfort zones. It was scary and exciting, but we were brave. We came here eager to gain knowledge and success. We not only achieved this, but gained so much more: confidence, individuality. We are part of an evolution. We are non-judging, accepting, hardworking, unique, challenge seeking individuals. We take “weird” as a complement. We take school and learning to a whole new level. We are extreme. Original. We are AMESIAN.

Daniel S.
