I was once asked by a teacher here at Ames, “how can you describe Ames” and it took me a while to figure out what to say, because how am I going to describe such an odd school? Then the perfect response came to mind. “Ames is like a box of crayons.” We have people from everywhere. We all have our special attitudes (Nathan) and we all contribute to this school in a great way. This is what makes our school so “odd” and unique.
When 9th grade students start Ames, most of them don’t like it. They complain and whine that the school is weird and nerdy, but as they grow into the school and they go through 10th, 11th, and finally 12th grade. These whiney 9th graders turn into great amazing seniors who are more than proud to have attended Ames. We fall in love with the school; we have a great relationship with the teachers. The bond we have with each other is honestly very special; we have all become a huge family. And yes just like all families we fight and get on each other’s nerves but at the end of the day we still love each other.
My Jr. year started out pretty harsh, I had a lot of problems that reflected on my school work. I didn’t end up on my best note but I promised myself that my senior year was going to be different. And thankfully it was, I had a lot of great things happen to me this year. My hard work towards school and my problems paid off. I would have not made it throughout the year if it wasn’t for some of my friends; they have been a great motivation and inspiration to my life.
If I had to name my heroes, I would have to say my Ames senior class of 2010.
Thank you
