Clothing must be in good taste, following community and school standards. Inappropriate attire is any clothing that disrupts the educational process, threatens the learning environment, or endangers the health or safety of students or any other person.

No gang related dress is allowed, this includes:

  • Bandanas
  • Head wear
  • Sagging, hanging belts
  • Monikers on hats or shirts

AMES and CHS will not be allowing any student, either AMES or CHS, to wear the following:

  • Hats or have hoods from hoodie style sweatshirts pulled over their heads
  • Sunglasses

No clothing deemed immodest in appearance because of excessive body exposure is allowed, this includes:

  • Shorts (male and female) and skirts that are shorter than mid thigh, halter tops, spaghetti straps, single straps, tank tops, athletic shirts or other tops that expose midriffs or more than the neck or arms. Tops may be sleeveless, but straps should be wide enough to extend to the shoulder.

This is a school wide policy for both AMES and Cottonwood High School. Students who do not comply with the dress code will be referred to the office for appropriate action.
